What is the Social Media #Soiree?
The Social Media #Soiree is a virtual party, a gala event, a digital salon.
It is an online celebration of collaboration that integrates cutting-edge technologies and social networking platforms to permit widespread participation, provide fun and festive conversation and foster valuable connections—across continents and time zones and cultures.
Read about the history of the Social Media #Soiree.
The Social Media #Soiree is the creation of its host Kay Ballard @KayBallard, a self-admittedly self-absorbed Social Media Connector; a modern woman who nonetheless channels the acerbic dry wit of the Jazz Age’s Dorothy Parker. Her party conversation is calculated both to unnerve and to amuse. Joining @KayBallard and others in pursuit of #Soiree merriment is host Daniel Thurston @daniel4is, well-traveled and sophisticated marketing and communications executive from Auckland, New Zealand. And being no fool, @KayBallard insists that her Twitter Crush and Co-Executive Producer, computer scientist and businessman, Kemal Ispirli @kemalispirli from Istanbul, Turkey, is always at hand to help her host the party.

Known as a decidedly upscale event, a Social Media #Soiree is scheduled monthly and at @KayBallard’s whim, any time and every time she thinks there is a person or occasion worthy of celebration or whenever there is a concept or theme she wants the salon to explore.
Each Social Media #Soiree features an honoree or a number of special guests, cameo VIP pop-ins, #Soiree cast members, and hundreds of invited partygoers who attend live via simultaneous webcast and real time twitter stream. The live #Soiree lasts for an hour, but unlike most successful parties, it never really ends because each Social Media #Soiree will be available for replay via mp3 download and streaming webcast.
Celebrant honorees of the Social Media #Soiree include Deb Puchalla @debpuchalla, executive in charge of digital media at Scripps Publishing, best-selling authors Suzy Welch @SuzyWelch and Patti Digh @PattiDigh, and film maker Melissa Pierce @melissapierce.
